Want a Little Perk in the Day?

A friend sent this to me about a week ago. I finally opened it today; Happy Birthday to me! Oh my goodness, the cuteness!

Hi, Anonymous,

Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts and the link to the "Jesus Camp" film trailer. If we had the opportunity to have a conversation about it someday, I would share that I think there are some important differences between that documentary and the story it tells of some Christians (or at least what I have heard about and seen of the documentary; I confess I have not watched it and am not really interested in doing so), and the little video presented here. I personally would not consider as abuse teaching my child a song about something I believe to be true. Thankfully, we are certainly all welcome to our own opinions about that.

In fact, I have some struggles with some of the things I have seen depicted in that film trailer and commentaries I have seen about the film (though, as I said, I have not seen any of the film pieces in full context), just as I have struggles with many situations and people I see doing things in the name of God or Jesus that I don't find comfortable or perhaps even truthful. But the fact that they do such things does not change the nature of who Jesus truly is, thank goodness, or my relationship with him.

The tenor of your response does tend to give me the impression, though, that perhaps you have been deeply wounded by something "religious". If that's the case, I am very sorry that happened to you. And I am sorry that you did not feel safe enough to leave your name here.
